Sunset Creek

Whilst I searched for semi-submerged subjects around Coney Island Creek last night, the sun burst out from under a cloud and caught me traipsing through the undergrowth.

Reading the Water

Monica drinking NYC waterMonica Hunken opens her one-woman show at the Living Theatre on Clinton St tomorrow, Tuesday 28th April. Reading the Water "is a surreal journey of a woman exploring the mysterious life—and death—of her scientist father...tales of deep-sea dives, top-secret government experiments, madcap relatives, lawsuits and an untimely death."

As part of Reading the Water, Monica is also raising awareness of the potential harm that natural gas drilling could do in the watersheds that supply New York City. Josh Dick and I have been collaborating with Monica to produce images for the Unfiltered NYC photo exhibit that accompanies the show. We have also set up a Flickr group where you can contribute your own NYC water shots.

$10; $8 student, senior, military discount
Half the proceeds will go to benefit NYH2O, a grassroots group organizing for a state-wide ban against natural gas drilling.
