DUMBO: Art Under the Bridge

The 12th Art Under the Bridge Festival takes place this weekend in DUMBO. It tends to be a very photogenic affair, and it's free.

The Battery Dance Company brought the Downtown Dance Festival over to Governors Island today. There will be more free performances tomorrow, Sunday August 17th.
Siren Music Festival at Coney Island

The 8th annual Siren music festival takes place this Saturday July 19th at Coney Island. The performances are all free so you can spend your pennies on some of the regular attractions, if you think you're hard enough.
New York Philharmonic in Prospect Park

New York Philharmonic played a free concert in Prospect Park’s Long Meadow Ballfields tonight. Alan Gilbert conducted Mozart's Divertimento in D major, K.125a; Beethoven's Symphony No. 4; and Sibelius' Finlandia.
Coney Island Bike Ride
Tonight is the Time's Up Ride to Coney Island. Everyone is welcome to join in with this relaxed push-bike ride from Manhattan to Coney, arriving in time for the fireworks.
Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge at 7pm

Bring a lock, some pennies for snacks and rides, and lights if you fancy riding back. Time's Up also recommends a swimsuit should you be inclined to test the water.
Mermaids and Moshers: A Tale of Two Islands
Wow. Not only was today the 26th Mermaid Parade down at Coney, but Governors Island
became Punk Island for the day. My shins took a beating at punkfest, but the camera
